ADVISORY

A UNIQUE AND VALUABLE PERSPECTIVE

Dane Jensen’s success as a curator, auctioneer and gallery director affords his collectors a unique and valuable perspective of the art market.

Prior to establishing his leading, independent advisory, Dane was the top-selling Director of the Art Advisory for Gurr Johns, Inc. in Los Angeles, where he achieved exceptional results for his clients at the oldest and largest art advisory in the world.

Previously, Dane was the Director of Contemporary Art and an Auctioneer with Bonhams in Los Angeles, consigning high-level works for auctions in Los Angeles, New York, London and Hong Kong.

He consigned numerous marquis consignments that graced the cover of various auction catalogs. Dane designed curated auctions and programming for Bonhams including his global Op Art focused series which was 100% sold in Los Angeles, New York and London.

As an independent curator, Dane produced exhibitions for the Wattis Institute of Contemporary Art, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, American Institute of Architects and the Oakland Museum of California. He was the Gallery Director for Moss, the legendary contemporary design gallery founded by Murray Moss in New York, and was previously the Director of the Earl McGrath Gallery in Los Angeles, a well-known figure in the art world, international social-scene and the music industry.

Dane has a Masters degree in Curatorial Practice from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

A DISCIPLINED AND STRATEGIC APPROACH

Collect with confidence

Whether they are acquiring or divesting of artworks, high-end private collectors, family foundations, business managers, museums and fiduciaries trust Dane Jensen to provide an exceptional level of advisory services. Big decisions require right intuition.

Dane believes as much in the aesthetic side as the strategic side of collecting art and, when negotiating, it is often a contest of advantage from an informational, analytical and behavioral perspective. His ability to source and interpret key data and insights provides his clients the knowledge and confidence to acquire or divest significant artworks.

Fundamental to Dane’s approach is his attendance at many of the major auctions, fairs and important exhibitions on the global calendar where his firsthand experiences are often instrumental for future use. When not in auction rooms or galleries, Dane carefully researches new and existing practices in order to identify opportunities for his clients.

Throughout the acquisition process, Dane understands art as an asset and the importance and potential to drive attractive performance results over time.

“Effective art advising is about diversity of skills — the ability to bid in an auction room, identifying exceptional opportunities at an art fair, providing rare offerings in private sales, pricing correctly, developing data-driven strategies, a scholarly understanding of a given practice, and bringing an insider’s network to the table.”
